To my lost love

22th October 2004

Walking along the dreary sands of time,
Lost in a strange world of a thought,
When I look back down the lane of a memory,
A smile brightens my parched lips,
A glow gleams through my abysmal eyes.

I remember the warmth in her hand, attraction in her eye,
Affection in her embrace, love in her smile,
Care in her words, craving in her grasp,
I remember myself mesmerised in time,
While now I count a second as an hour, an hour a day!

Little did I know when she started to walk,
Did she walk so silent, or was I lost in noise?
She was nowhere to be seen when I looked around,
And the longer I looked, the longer my heart longed.
For there was no warmth, as the gusty winds blew.

Only one path lay before my bleeding eyes,
Though the heart wanted to stay, the feet had no choice,
But tread in the dust, walk into the thorns,
Bear with the heat, suffer the chilling cold,
Look for another hope, wait for another sunshine.

Torrential rain down poured where I stood,
Yet not a drop to quench my parched lips.
Gales of wind overpowered my frail self,
Throwing away all that I could hold onto,
Though a gasp of fresh air was all I needed.

More than a year since this journey has begun,
To ‘move on’ on a path, I always seem lost,
Maybe it’s destiny, or maybe wicked fate,
And my eyes aren’t blessed, to stay in the past,
But to stare into the gust, move ahead with time!
